Why am I being charged
for treatment of my injury?

1 September 2009

There has been a lot of publicity recently about ACC cancelling “free ACC physiotherapy”.   However, we are not affected by the changes ACC has announced.

In 2004 we did not sign the contract, which ACC has now cancelled, to provide “free physiotherapy” to ACC patients.   Therefore, we have always charged ACC patients a co-payment to make up the difference between the reduced subsidy ACC pays us, and the cost of our services.   As we remain unaffected by these recent changes we will continue to do so.

Please note that as a result of the cancellation of this contract “free physiotherapy” will no longer be available for ACC patients from 15 November 2009; and it is anticipated that all physiotherapy clinics will have to charge a co-payment.

Of course, we will continue to provide high quality service to all our patients. We made our decision not to take up the previous contract because we feel we meet our patients’ needs better without it.
