Just another bump in the road

Grant assessed my back on Friday. I optimistically suggested that perhaps he could give it a crunch and miraculously cure the flare up... but no - he satisfied himself that nothing too sinister was going on and then suggested the best thing to do would be to keep wearing the brace and see if it settled down in a couple of days, so that's what I've been doing (Although haven't actually been that great at wearing the brace because it's by nature a little restrictive which isn't ideal when you want to stuff your face with Christmas treats).  I bravely managed to go without any painkillers which goes to show that this flare-up was nowhere near as intense as the last episode. Probably the hardest part is maintaining a positive mental attidude - I feel like I've been trying really hard with my rehab and was hoping I'd be at least up to a light jog round the south coast in my Bikilas by now, but instead I'm back to hobbling around having to ask for help every time I want to pick my baby up off the floor. Still, the sun has been shining non-stop and I've been able to concerntrate all my energy on playing with the kids rather than nipping out for a jog...well actually quite a bit of time spend lazing on the deck with a cold glass in hand and feet in the paddling pool  (perhaps I am just not destined to be the type to nip out for a jog). As for whether it's settling down? Well, it's been a few days now and it's kind of a bit better but not massively better. I'm still very stiff, unable to bend and feel quite unstable but apparently that's to be expected with a back like mine. I had some acupuncture yesterday and I'm trying to be patient and take it one day at a time.
