The team at Willis Street Physiotherapy

Nick Conn, Physiotherapist
     - BSc, DipPhty, DipMT, MNZSP

Nick has over 15 years experience in the management of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. He has worked in top Sports Medicine multidisciplinary clinics around the world – including London clinics servicing elite sports people, city workers and corporate customers.

Returning from the UK in 2003, Nick set up Willis Street Physiotherapy Limited, and the invaluable experience he gained overseas is evident in the thinking and products the clinic offers today.

In 2008 Nick formed a new company, Handspring Limited, which delivers ‘The Otago Exercise Programme’ in the lower North Island. This delivers a fall prevention exercise programme to the elderly in their homes.

But it doesn’t stop there. Nick has developed interests in upper limb, neck and upper back pain. He’s collecting data for a future research paper examining a new approach to pain management and prevention in these areas.

Grant Plumbley, Physiotherapist
     - BPhEd, Dip Phty, MNZSP

Grant gained a Bachelor of Physical Education degree from Otago University in 1988 before attending Otago Polytechnic qualifying in Physiotherapy in 1991.  He then spent 3 years as a physiotherapist within the multi-disciplinary team at the Wellington Sports Medicine Clinic before heading to the UK in 1994.

Over his 13 years there he gained extensive experience in performance, sports and corporate health sectors – including working as Physiotherapist with Riverdance - The Show from 1997 to 1999, as they toured Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and as a Physiotherapist at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club in 2005 to 2007.

Working in a large sports medicine clinic based in the City of London from 1999 to 2005, he gained invaluable experience in both the sports and corporate health sectors; working alongside specialist sports medicine doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, podiatrists, musculoskeletal radiologists and surgeons.

In 2005, he gave up his role of National Physiotherapy Manager, with clinical responsibility for a team of 30 physiotherapists, to accept the role at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

He returned to New Zealand with his young family in 2007, bringing with him a great working knowledge of discomfort, pain and injury within the performance, work and sport situations.

Grant has developed excellent assessment skills and a wide variety of treatment techniques– using mobilization, manipulation, soft tissue release techniques, acupuncture and specific exercises and rehabilitation in the treatment of these problems.
