Top 10 Tips for the Weekend Warrior Sportsman to Avoid and Manage Injury, Nick Conn
Having just started another season of football I am acutely aware of niggly injuries that are prevalent at this time of year. I recently sprained my ankle and developed a thigh strain. Neither of these are bad but they are enough to drain some enthusiasm from the start of the season; and awkward to know how soon to return successfully. So, I have put together some tips specifically aimed at 'weekend warriors' such as myself. Click here to read the article.
Clinic News
We are very excited to announce that Willis Street Physiotherapy was recently awarded HDANZ quality accreditation. This means we have been assessed against around 250 quality standards that cover everything from how we organise our operational processes to the quality of our clinical note keeping, cultural policies and equipment maintenance. We will now be audited every 18 months to ensure we continue to meet the standards.
We are continuing our work with the New Zealand College of Massage and currently have our second intake of students running Wednesday afternoon sessions. The massage sessions enable us to offer a free massage treatment to some of our clients whose treatment may benefit. It also enables students the opportunity to enhance their training by working with experienced clinicians. Occasionally we have last minute cancellations that we can offer to any clients who are interested in taking the opportunity for a free sports massage. You can register your interest in being contacted to fill these sessions on the front page of our website.
Article Database
We are starting to build a database of clinical articles as an information reference source for our clients on our website.
This month Grant has added ‘Milestones Following ACL Reconstruction’ essential reading for those of you who’ve recently had the procedure.
We have also added information on the 'our approach to treatment' page about RICEM (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation, Movement). Follow these guidelines immediately after an injury.
